Home water monitoring devices may be something to consider if you own a property that you do not live in full time. A friend with a second home here in Breckenridge was recently alerted by his “SimpliSafe” water monitoring system that there was a water leak in his home. He asked the property manager to check on it and they were able to stop the leak quickly. Without the notification from his SimpliSafe, the results could have been disastrous! Flood damage is the most common home insurance claim and one of the most expensive. Smart water monitors were created to prevent these very situations.

There are a variety of sensors on the market. Take a look and see if there’s a product that could help you in this same situation.

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) is a Silverthorne-based nonprofit organization that ensures that our National Forest is not negatively impacted by its immense popularity here in Summit County. FDRD partners with the US Forest Service and many, many volunteers to sustain the local forest and enhance the recreational experience for all users. In their 15-year history the organization has grown to a team of four full time staff, two summer seasonal staff and over 1,000 dedicated volunteers.

With more than 60 projects planned every calendar year, the group’s active volunteers contribute thousands of hours maintaining and improving trails, planting trees, pulling invasive weeds, educating visitors and offering extensive youth programming.
