550 kegs of beer are ready for this weekend’s Main Street Oktoberfest celebration in Breckenridge! After the event was canceled in 2020 and then drastically scaled back in 2021, the full-blown fall festival returns this weekend with schnitzel, spaetzle, pretzels, brats, live music and of course beer. The massive community event has been sponsored by Paulaner for many years and is excited to instead partner with Breckenridge Brewery this year. Additional contributors include Broken Compass, Talbott’s Cider and Line 39 wines. Steins and drink tokens can be purchased at the Riverwalk Center. Each year, The Summit County Builders Association and The Summit Foundation collaborate to host the Parade of Homes. This unique event gives the public a rare opportunity to tour some of the most beautifully remodeled and newly built homes in the county. In its 27th year, the 2022 Parade features five homes with stops in Silverthorne, Keystone and Breckenridge. While the tour is a platform for builders, architects and designers to showcase their talents, it’s also your chance to see the most current materials, technologies and designs in the industry. I was lucky to be part of the Summit County Special Olympics Tennis Team this summer! The training consisted of weekly practices – frequently held on the indoor courts at the beautiful Breckenridge Tennis Center – throughout the summer. Athletes ages 10 – 21 participated in warmups, skills drills and doubles tennis. Some were new to the program and others had won medals at state championships in recent years. At the end of our summer training, three of the players went on to participate in the state-level competition at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs: Erikka Abbott of Dillon, Gabe Duwaik of Silverthorne and Caroline Willis of Frisco.
