How did it get to be December already?  The ski season is in full swing after a rocky start.  Breckenridge Ski Resort has reported 20 inches of snow in the last seven days and they are opening new terrain daily.  Let’s just keep dancing to Ullr for a really snowy winter!

Breckenridge Ski Resort was unable to open last Friday due to Mother Nature's warmer temperatures and drier fall.  Snowmaking efforts were slowed until this last week when the weather took a turn.  The temperatures are much cooler and snow has started to fall.  Breckenridge will be officially opening this Friday, November 14th!  So get your skis and snowboarders ready for a great kick off to the ski season!

With the ski season on everyone’s mind, now is a great time to think about booking your trip to Breckenridge this winter.  The occupancy and revenue among the ski resorts set record-breaking numbers this summer and is boosting the winter bookings as well.

DestiMetrics, is a Denver-based organization that follows 19 mountain resorts in six western states.  DestiMestrics may not reflect the entire mountain destination travel industry, but is analyzes data from about 290 property management companies, that manage about 27,500 rooms across Colorado, Utah, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Wyoming.  They have announced that as of September 30, 2014, the bookings for the upcoming ski season, November through March, show a total of 7.4 percent gain in occupancy…

The annual Breckenridge Rubber Ducky Race is returning this Labor Day weekend.  The Summit Foundation is happy to celebrate 27 years of racing.  Join thousands of viewers on Saturday, August 30th on the Blue River running through Breckenridge.  Enjoy a day of events for the entire family, starting at 11 a.m. 

There will be three duck races throughout the day.  Starting at 1 p.m., the Hudson Auto Source Kids Duck Dash will start.  As many as 750 ducks are dropped into the Blue River at the Adams Street Bridge.  Peak-A-Boo Toys, Vail Resorts Echo and other businesses will be donating more than 40 prizes for the kids’ race.

Don't miss out on one of the largest spectator events in Colorado.  The Stage 5 Finish will be taking place in Breckenridge this afternoon.  It is an event that you don't want to miss.  Come cheer on the cyclists as they race down Hoosier Pass into town and make the grueling 15 percent incline up Moonstone Road before they finish.  Enjoy all day activities.  To get the best seats in the house, make sure you are where you want to watch the race by 1 p.m.  If you need further race details, please feel free to contact me.

Backcountry skiers are one step closer to having a fifth hut added to the Summit Hut Association.  On July 28th, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) released an environmental assessment of the Weber Hut, which according to the associations’ director, Mike Zobbe, has been in the works for over eight years. 

Weber’s Hut received its name because it is located in Weber Gulch, on the north side of Baldy Mountain.  It will sit at about 11,500 feet above sea level.  It will join the other four huts in the Summit Hut Association- Section House and Ken’s Cabin along Boreas Pass, Janet’s Cabin near Copper Mountain, and Francie’s Cabin just south of Breckenridge.  Weber Hut was part of the original master plan with the USFS for the Summit Huts Association, back in…
